| The Collective Protection System (CPS) is intended to provide users of the MGPTS with collective protection against the threat of nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) agents. The design of the CPS liner leverages the existing designs of standard collective protection systems in use by the U.S. Army, Air Force and Marine Corps. Cylindrical in shape, the CPS is inflated with filtered air. The inflated liner provides a place to work or rest without having to wear protective clothing or equipment.
To provide NBC protection, a higher pressure must exist inside the shelter than outside the shelter. A blower motor provides air to the liner, creating over-pressure inside the system. The airflow that causes the pressure must pass through the HSFC for particle filtration providing NBC protection.
